How our content is written
Our entries and lists are drafted with the help of AI writing tools and checked automatically, but not every page has yet been individually reviewed by a human editor. Errors are possible. Read how our content is produced, and report a correction if you find a mistake.
Medical, legal, scientific and technical terms
The dictionary includes some medical, legal, scientific and financial terms. Their definitions are simplified for learners and are not professional advice. Do not use them to make decisions about health, legal matters or money; consult a qualified professional instead.
Exam and grade lists
Our SAT, ACT, GRE, IELTS, TOEFL and other test-preparation lists are independent practice selections. They are not official exam word lists, do not predict what will appear in any test and cannot guarantee any score. VocabularyBase is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any organisation that writes or runs these exams. Grade collections are suggested practice sets, not a school curriculum.
Other languages
Our language pages are beginner starter lists written for English speakers. Pronunciation guides are approximate, and translations show one common meaning. Check with a native speaker or a dedicated course before relying on them.
Offensive and informal words
Some entries define slang, vulgar or offensive words because people look them up to understand them. Defining a word does not endorse its use. These entries are labelled with a note on how offensive or informal they are.
Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate links
VocabularyBase currently shows no advertising, accepts no sponsored content and uses no affiliate links, and no company pays to be mentioned on the site. If that changes, commercial content will be clearly labelled and this disclaimer will be updated.
