About the service
VocabularyBase is a free educational website offering a learning dictionary, word lists, guides, practice activities and printable materials. It is provided for personal learning, teaching and general reference. No account is needed.
Acceptable use
When using the site, you agree not to:
- use it for anything unlawful, harmful or fraudulent;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site or its server;
- copy, scrape or download the site’s content in bulk, including with automated tools, beyond what normal browsing or search indexing requires;
- republish substantial parts of the site, or present its content as your own;
- send spam, abusive messages or malicious content through the contact form.
Copyright and permitted use
The text, word lists, guides, activities and design of VocabularyBase are protected by copyright and belong to the site operator unless stated otherwise. The bundled Noto Sans fonts are used under their own licence.
What you may do
- Read, print and use pages for your own learning.
- Print worksheets, word lists, quizzes and Frayer models and share them with your own students or children for non-commercial teaching.
- Quote short extracts with a link back to the page they come from.
What needs permission
Selling our materials, including them in paid products, or republishing entries or lists in bulk requires our written permission. Please contact us to ask.
Content you provide
Text you type into the quiz maker and other tools stays in your browser and remains yours. Messages you send through the contact form are used as described in our privacy policy. If we accept an article you submit, you keep the copyright and give us a non-exclusive licence to publish and edit it, as explained on Write for us.
Accuracy of content
We work to keep entries accurate and clear, but language is complex and mistakes can happen. Content is provided for general educational purposes, is not guaranteed to be complete or error-free and is not professional advice. Our disclaimer explains these limits in more detail.
Third-party links
Some pages may link to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee that it will always be online or free of errors. We may change, add or remove content and features, or suspend the site, at any time.
